Character, description

Amongst the three species of maple indigenous to Europe – the sycomore maple, the European hard maple and common or Norway maple – the sycomore maple is the most precious and one of the most favoured broad-leafed continental trees. Its wood is almost white or whitish pale-yellow and its structure is unified and distinct. Its texture is straight, its perfect yellowish wood reveals itself through straight or ribboned bossed shapes, which gives this light-coloured wood an elegant appearance. The silky, soft markings are discreetly accentuated on the quartered surface.
